About us
Outback Woodworks Belize is a small, family-run furniture shop based in the Outback of Agua Viva, 30 minutes from Belmopan, run by Tom Nunnaley. We build high-end, sculptural furniture — rockers and seating, dining tables down to end and coffee tables, bedroom sets, and custom one-off pieces — using hardwoods native to Belize, including premium rosewood and ziricote alongside cabbage bark, granadillo, black poisonwood, and others.
This isn't production furniture. Most pieces are designed and built for the client who ordered them, using material selected for that piece — though a few signature designs, like the Outback Rocker, formal dining chair, the Unity, and Accordia Dining Tables, are available as standing pieces. Design and craftsmanship go hand in hand here — we work to bring out what's already in the wood, through live edges, figured grain, and inlay, rather than working against it. If you want furniture that looks like everyone else's, OWB is not for you. If you want something built by hand, artistically shaped, from wood that came from the ground it's going to stand on, that's what we do.
We keep the shop small and family-run on purpose. It means slower turnaround, but it also means the person building your table is the same person who talked to you about it — and every piece is crafted for beauty as much as it is for endurance.
